Matthew Sked is a Senior Legal Advisor in the Office of Patent Legal Administration at the USPTO, where he also serves as the Lead Coordinator of the Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technology Policy Working Group. In this role, he oversees the development and implementation of USPTO policy initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence and intellectual property. Within the Office of Patent Legal Administration, he drafts rule packages, memoranda, and associated guidance on topics such as subject matter eligibility under Section 101, information disclosure practices, and the duty of disclosure.
Prior to joining the Office of Patent Legal Administration, Matthew worked as a Primary Patent Examiner in the speech processing and audio coding arts.
He holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law.
